Falta Special Economic Zone (FSEZ - the Zone) is one of the eight Special Economic Zones of the Govt. of India in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry under the SEZ scheme. Special Economic Zone is a specially delineated duty free enclave and is deemed to be foreign teritorry for the purpose of trade operations and duties and tariffs.The units in the Zone have to export their entire production and are granted certain entitlements such as Duty Deferment on Import & domestic procurement, simplified operational regime, access to the DTA market. The Special Economic Zones are at Santacruz, Surat, Kandla, Kochi, Vishakapatnam, Falta, Noida and Madras. Many more SEZ's have been notified at other places.


The objective is to provide adequate infrastructural & other necessary support services to enable them to be competitive quality and costwise. The scheme and the Zone are managed and administered by the office of the Development Commissioner. This office, in addition to the management of the Zone and units therein also manages similar 100% Export Oriented Units, under the EOU scheme approved on stand alone basis outside the Zone in the eastern and north-eastern states of India.
